First dates usually come with a bit of anxiety. For some it’s because of previous bad experiences, for others it’s feeling uncomfortable around people they don’t know well. And then there are people who deal with everyday insecurities thinking they’re not enough or worthy of love (which is totally untrue !)

So if you find yourself experiencing a bit of anxiety before a first date and don’t know how to deal with it, here are a few things that will help you:

Prioritize your comfort when planning the date, for example:

  • Choosing a meeting spot you feel comfortable in
  • Prep for some conversation topics just in case you feel overwhelmed at the spot
  • Wear an outfit you feel good and comfortable in

Give yourself an easy out:

Preparing for an exit strategy in case you don’t end up hitting it off is never a bad idea,like an ‘emergency family call’, or you can just be honest about it.

Keep your expectations in check:

Tell yourself you’re meeting up with a friend at first and if it ends up being something more than great! This will help you be less anxious/Hyped about the whole situation.

Listen to your gut:

We get too excited about the possibility of a romance sometimes that we tend to overlook a few things. Be honest with yourself, it’s better than being with a person who’s no good for you.
